Graham Henry

20 February 2011

Graham Henry is currently the head coach of the All Blacks.

Graham started his career as a high school teacher teaching Geography and Physical Education at two schools known for their great Rugby teams – Kelston Boys’ High and Auckland Grammar School. He, of course, coached both their first XVs.

Henry also represented Canterbury and Otago in cricket in the 1960s.

In 1987 after the unexpected death of the Kelston Boys’ High headmaster, Graham took over his role until he became a full time coach in 1996. After coaching in Wales from ’98 – ’02 he moved back to his homeland and took the job of coaching the All Blacks. In his first test match as coach the All Blacks beat the Rugby World champs at the time, England and their success continued as they toured Europe and beat Italy, Wales, France and the Barbarians.

He is one of New Zealand’s most successful rugby coaches after the 100th win of his international coaching career occurred in November 2010.

He is married to Raewyn and they have three children.
