Miriama Kamo was born in Christchurch in 1973. She attended New Brighton Catholic Primary School and Aranui High School. She graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1995.
She began her journalism career as a radio announcer and producer at National Radio. She then moved into television in the late 1990s, working for three years as an onscreen journalist and director for the issues and arts programme, Backchat. After joining TVNZ she become a reporter for TVNZ’s current affairs programme, Sunday. She also worked as a backup presenter for ONE News, and Breakfast.
Miriama currently hosts TVNZ’s current affairs show 20/20, and is a weekend co-anchor for TVNZ 7’s TVNZ News @ 8.
