Niki Harré

Associate professor of psychology at the University of Auckland, Niki Harré is the author of The Infinite Game: How to Live Well Together, Psychology for a Better World: Working with People to Save the Planet, and numerous highly-cited articles on social and environmental activism.

Niki teaches in the area of community psychology and the psychology of sustainability at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She is involved in youth development and has worked closely with the Graeme Dingle Foundation’s Project K, a major national programme aimed at Year 10 high school students who are at risk of poor long term outcomes. Her recent research looks at the values and symbols that underlie the human drive to participate in the common good, sustainable communities and schools, and political activism.

Niki lives in Pt Chevalier, Auckland and has three children. She is a founding member of the Pt Chevalier Transition Town, cycles to work, learns the guitar from a musician who lives on her street, and has a large organic garden thanks to Keith, her partner.
