Peter Bush

06 November 2011

Peter Bush has chronicled the last 60 years of New Zealand rugby history in photographs. In 1949 Peter shot his first All Blacks test game for the New Zealand Herald. Since then Peter has documented most All Black games and has enjoyed privileged access to the teams on and off the field.

His photography career has taken him far and wide, from capturing the All Blacks in apartheid South Africa to the ‘troubles’ in Belfast in the early 1970’s. Peter has also served as a war correspondent, and at the age of 20 worked his passage around the world on various ships.

Peter wrote his autobiography, A Life in Focus with Paul Thomas, published in 2009, and in 2011 he was made Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to photography.

He lives in Island Bay, Wellington.
